JPEF Annual Global Diabetes Convention 2024 Report
Introduction:
The Jothydev’s Professional Education Forum (JPEF) Annual Global Diabetes Convention 2024 was held from July 12th to 14th at the Uday Samudra Hotel in Kovalam, Trivandrum. Inaugurated by Her Highness Princess Pooyam Thirunal Gowri Parvathi Bayi, the convention brought together a distinguished assembly of experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the globe. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Thomas Mathew, Director of Medical Education, who highlighted the evolving landscape of diabetes care. Notable participants included Dr. Hossam Arafa Ghazi (Egypt), Dr. Sen Devadathan (United Kingdom), Dr.Aiminath Malha Saeed (Maldives), Dr. Rakesh Sahay, President of RSSDI, Dr. Banshi Saboo, Chief Advisor to JPEF, Dr. Shashank R. Joshi (JPEF Advisory Board), Dr. Ashok Kumar Das (JPEF Scientific Committee), and Dr. V. Mohanan Nair (IMA and AMS, Nemom). The convention featured scientific presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and collaboration aimed at advancing the field of diabetes care and management.

Program Overview:
The convention featured a comprehensive program organized across three distinct halls: Joy Philip Hall, Marjorie Hall and Elizabeth Hughes Hall, hosting a variety of sessions including orations, workshops, abstract presentations, and competitions. Additionally, there were stalls dedicated to physical activity and pharmaceutical exhibits. The halls remained consistently busy, with a high level of engagement from attendees at all times during the convention.

Attendance:
The convention witnessed an overwhelming response, with 1,800 registrations and a total participation of 1,500 attendees.
Accommodation:
The accommodation was arranged at multiple hotels, including Uday Samudra(UDS), Leela, KTDC Samudra, Sagara, Turtle on the Beach and Kingsway ensuring convenient options for all participants. All the faculty members were accommodated in UDS.
Sessions:
The event was packed with a diverse range of activities, featuring 135 sessions, including 6 keynote lectures, 8 symposiums, 4 orations, 4 workshops, 2 patient interaction sessions and 1 Zumba session. Additionally, the event featured 150 faculty members, including 6 international experts.
Oration Sessions:
Four distinguished orations took place during the convention, namely the P.Kesavadev Oration, V.C Mathew Roy Memorial Oration, JPEF Oration and RSSDI Presidential Oration. These sessions provided valuable insights into various aspects of diabetes research and management.
Abstract Presentations:
A total of 40 abstracts (24 oral and 16 poster presentations) from all over India were selected. All the abstracts will be published in the International Journal of Diabetes and Technology's (IJDT) Supplementary Issue. The best presentations were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes for posters and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th prizes for oral presentations. The winners received certificates and cash prizes.

Fun Challenges and Entertainment:
- Zumba Sessions: A vibrant Zumba session was organized during the convention, with enthusiastic participation from attendees. The sessions were highly appreciated and contributed to the overall positive and energetic atmosphere.
Pharma Stalls and Exhibits:
Pharmaceutical companies showcased their products and services at stalls located in the lobby, near the Joy Philip Hall, and in the designated stall area. The stalls provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the latest advancements in diabetes care and interact with industry representatives.
Conclusion:
The JPEF Annual Global Diabetes Convention 2024 was a tremendous success, marked by a high volume of registrations, full-house halls, and a dynamic program featuring engaging oration sessions, workshops, abstract presentations, and exciting competitions. The convention effectively facilitated the exchange of knowledge, networking, and collaboration among diabetes experts and healthcare professionals.
